Thread: Oil Cooler install.

Oil coolers are almost a must for any SE-R running on a hot summer day at the track. We know a big weakness is the cooling system in SE-R's we upgrade radiators, hoses, waterpumps and thermostats. Why not upgrade the oil cooling system too.

make sure you run thicker oil for track days and use a good oil. You should be ok man.

i did a 32 row... never gets over 170deg love it

I thought that optimal oil temp range was like 200-240 or something like that?

Run thicker oil and change it after the track day. How high oil temps. will get depends on your driving skills, but the VE gets HOT on track! Keep in mind that oil temps. over 250-260 will cause bearing degradation and quickly turns the oil to shit. If you plan on doing a lot of track days GET A COOLER! Get at least a full size 19 row, probably larger is better in the case of the VE!

As for the guy who never gets above 170, that must be on the street..... Big ass oil cooler or not a VE-T on the track for 30 minutes at full steam will get the oil temps. hotter than that, unless you are pussyfooting and only think your going fast...

My oil temps. have yet to exceed 240 with the cooler regardless of ambient temps!

Are there any negatives to running an oil cooler on a daily driver and/or on a track vehicle?

None that I can think of. Just a thermotativ plate like I did and in the winter if you drive your car maybe cover the cooler...

How long were the lines you ran Wes, sorry for all the questions.
