Run thicker oil and change it after the track day. How high oil temps. will get depends on your driving skills, but the VE gets HOT on track! Keep in mind that oil temps. over 250-260 will cause bearing degradation and quickly turns the oil to shit. If you plan on doing a lot of track days GET A COOLER! Get at least a full size 19 row, probably larger is better in the case of the VE!
As for the guy who never gets above 170, that must be on the street..... Big ass oil cooler or not a VE-T on the track for 30 minutes at full steam will get the oil temps. hotter than that, unless you are pussyfooting and only think your going fast...
My oil temps. have yet to exceed 240 with the cooler regardless of ambient temps!
