Guys, I dont normally do this but...
I need some advice/help with a NX2000.

The problem lies with the speed sensor on a '93 NX2000. It broke, the plastic piece broke. Thats the news Im getting from a shop. They are telling me that the plastic gear that broke either fell into the transmission(which would get chewed up) or it fell into the linkage. Now the car is a bitch to shift into first and second gear. Many times you will have to start the car off in 3rd.

Since the plastic gear fell into the linkage, whats my solution? New fuckin tranny? I sure hope not, although they are cheap...just time to do the swap isnt ideal for me. Where would it have fell? Has this happened to anyone before?

Any help/advice would be great

Thanks,

If they were chewed up, you MAY be able to drain them out but I suggest you pull the tranny and open the case!

Too many "if"s. It's time to crack open the case and get down and dirty. Or just slap a used one in there.

I would just get a used one. What are they 100 bucks off fleabay? that is what I would do as well.

I would suggest you try draining the fluid. If the pieces are chewed up you should see that in the fluid and you can either strain or replace the fluid. See if it helps. If not, pull the tranny, its a shi**y process, but you will learn a lot.

I do have a speedo sensor I want to sell however I am not at home right now. If you are interested let me know.

Your biggest issue is if the plastic gear on the final drive was damaged .... Your best option would be to pull the trans, pull it apart and clean it all out ... you will want to replace all the bearings also !!! Or yea, a new or used trans !!

I did a G20 trans where they put the wrong sensor in and it chewed up both gears, he tried to drain and refill with new fluid and just live without a speedo ...but it started having bearing noise after a couple hundred miles ... I rebuilt it and it took hours cleaning out plastic from everything, all the little oil passages in the shafts were plugged with plastic etc ...

Ive done a couple trannys in my lifetime, i just wasent sure if its salvageable or not. Not one of my NX's/sentras has had this problem. Maybe its a freak thing that jammed in there.

Im more worried about what else might have fell in other than the plastic.....

Thanks for the input guys.

Dudeman, send me your info and price on the sensor, thanks bud
