AC Compressor seized?
Anyone know how i can find out if my AC compressor is seized for sure? The guy I bought my NX from said it was but I'm just not sure. If not I'd love to do the R134a conversion kit so I can have some AC for these hot summer months. TIA.

I believe in the fsm it explains how to kick the compressor on by jumping some wires, even if there isn't enough pressure in the system

Actually I turned the AC on today and it wouldn't blow on 1-3 but on 4 it would blow air. it wasn't cold of course. So, would the air even blow if the compressor wasn't working?
TIA for all the help guys!

Hey Jay Rob, for what it's worth, I just pulled a perfectly good compressor off of my 93 SE-R. (getting it ready for ice racing) I don't know if it would fit your car or not, but if you think you could use it. In fact I've got all of the components still.

Yes, the fans will work with no compressor action.

Nor do you want to know how much a brand-new OEM Nissan compressor costs. I replaced one last year. Although someone on here may very well know about less expensive alternatives to fix your compressor issue (rebuilt? used? Iceracers kick-ass offer? I dunno...).

You have a relay-switch thing out on your fan motor. It is located in your passenger footwell, bolted to the outer wall about six or eight inches up. It comes out easily with a couple of screws. Looks like a circuit-board credit-card.

I've replaced that stupid thing twice. The new one you buy from Greg V at G-Spec (hint...Forum Vendor) might not look exactly the same as the one you pull out. But it works. They changed the design in there somewhere.

And someone will eventually chime in with the exact correct name for that...uh...AC-fan relay?

When my compressor went out, it was noisy as hell and then seized completely, to the point that the belt was no longer turning. If the compressor is still spinning, it may not be the problem. Is there a belt attached to it? You could have a leak, the condenser may be bad, etc.
