Third gear issues...
So recently my car has slid out of 3rd gear even with slight throttle applied. I have a B14 trans in the car with about 120K on it. I had an ebay short shifter in it. While some spirited driving last night it snapped off right above the ball. I figured maybe it was sliding out since the shifter might of been flexing before it broke.

Got home and threw in the shifter that came in the car. Still the same issue. Anyone have problems like this? The clutch cable is adjusted properly. Gear oil is full. I'm running an ACT xtreme PP with 6 puck unsprung bolted onto a Fidanza flywheel. Every other gear works great and doesn't slide out at all. Any ideas or input are appreciated!

Rear motor mount and shifter linkage should be the places to look next.

Or it's just your tranny O_O..

Hopefully not the trans. I have prothane motor mounts. Hopefully something just loosened up!

For the flywheel? I hope not, everything looked good when I had the trans out recently lol.

I've seen 3rd gear pop out like the 5th gear pop out before. I've even seen it on B14 boxes. Its rare but it does happen (usually to spirited drivers ).

It sounds like you've checked all the easy fixes. Get a fresh set of eyes on it to make sure and I see you cracking it open for the fix.

Hmmm. Well at least I know it happens. I'm sure the car has not enjoyed 9K shifts aggressively. I guess I better learn how to swap gears. I know I have a B13 box with a good 3rd somewhere.
