On that same link cliff people said that the connectors should be the same...page 4. Im so confused on what I should do. Is there anyway to tell what year ser harness I got?

And on that same writeup it seemed like a lot of people just used their ga16 engine harness on the sr20. Do you think this would work on the u12 without any major modification? Would trying that first be a better choice than finding a ser interior harness? Sorry for so many questions im trying to get everything together so i can do the swap as fast as possible. Thanks

There are 3 variations that I personally know of. 91-94, 95-97, and 98-99.

I think 94 is a bastard year as well? Then of course you deal with ga or sr.

From what the guy told me the ser harness is a 96 ser and my car is a 96 ga so same year should work but it doesnt.

From those that have done the swap in the link I posted - The easiest thing to do is to yank the GA harness from the dash, and install the SR harness...

I'm not going to repeat it again.

Good luck.

You could have been "informed" the harness you bought was a 96 se-r harness but could have been a 98-99. I did NOT have to swap out my underdash harness on my 96 sentra to use a 96 se-r harness.

My 96 sentra was a GA AUTO and i made it sr20det manual and used the 96 se-r harness with NO modification to the underdash harness or plugs. Something else is going on that we are not seeing unless like i said, the harness isnt actually a 96 model harness.

Lets all try to help this guy out....

According to the FSM they should be a 16pin, a 12pin, and a 4pin on the car side. This i can confirm as true in a 95. 95-97 should be the same.

How many pins are in the connectors you have on your engine harness? I have extra connectors laying around, if you just need to re-pin them you can have them for shipping. I will have the 12 & 16pins, i am not sure if i have a 4pin though. It is easy to pull the pins and slide in a new connector if it is the same type. Take some pictures of the ECU end of the harness, this will help me identify it.

I'm not sure about how many pins they are because I won't be home until Wednesday but from looking at the pictures I posted the small connector looks like it has 8 pins and the other connector has probably about 20. There is a definite difference between the connectors. Squirlz you said you have some connectors laying around that I would be able to use and repin but what about the extra wires there will be since I would be reducing the amount of pins used? I looked at the fsm and my haynes manual for awhile and maybe I just don't know much about what I'm looking at but I couldn't find what wire does what and which ones I'd need to connect together because maybe I did receive some freak harness or a 98-99 one like buffalobill said. And if that were the case would each wire coloration still do the same thing? And Idk if you guys saw the pics but they are on page 1 if you haven't. Thank you guys for helping this is really frustrating.
