Thread: car dies after coming to a comete stop and has trouble starting afterl

hello.i have a 96 Nissan 200sx ser. when driving one block from where i was parked at i came to a red light.when i put the Car in neutral and slowed down.,the car shut off on me and wouldnt back on for at least fice minutes.i dont know if its the heat or the city but i smelled gas. my car always felt like it wS gonna die when put in neutrL.its gotten worse now that i have rotted out muffler.no engine mods have been done ecxept an ebay maf adapter and cone filter.other than that it is a stock car.please help.all i can think of is the air filter.migjt be clogged.please help

Is the check engine light on?

Sounds like some old vacuum lines could be the cause of the issue. Did you maybe tug on the IACV tube on the intake pipe to cause a small leak? Look over everything, more than likely a vacuum leak.

I had my MAF cause this problem. Try cleaning it..

check EGR valve

check the vacume line that goes to the FPR

Water in gas?

Is the check engine light on?

its definately the maf, i had the same issues you had, try cleaning the maf or replacing with a working one.

the cel has been on Cuz of a knock sensor malfunction.
ill try to clean the maf this weekend.check hoses and egr. ill keep you guys posted
