SR16 tranny got issues!
finally got to installing the tranny that i bought from a forum member, sadly to say it took a **** on me after starting up the car..ive done a countless number of tranny swaps and i knew something wasnt right with the tranny..

from wat the previous owner told me he had the gear stacks replaced b4 it was sold to me and he had Charles(snickers) swap the final drive to 4.17 instead of 4.33 before he bought it from him, and a bearing got bound up. So he had to send it back for repair

heres what happened..
-put the tranny in
-started the car
-ran through the gears (everything was fine)
-stepped out to let the car dle
-car shuts off automatically like something got locked up
-started it back up, making this rattling noise from tranny
-tried to run throught the gears, 1st, 3rd, 5th was a no go..2nd, 4th i had to use a little effort to go into gear

also when not in gear the car starts to pull forward.
700 down the drain!! if someone wants to buy this and fix it i can sell it for a reasonable price..

my gf's g20 when its on jack stands and running (not in gear) the wheels turn.. but when its on the ground it doesnt move or anything.. weird stuff.. GLWS

sounds more like a clutch problem than a tranny problem

clutch is fine, ive put the old tranny back in and good as new

just take the case off. Its not that hard. Should be easy to determine what is wrong.

i had that kind off similar issue when i first swapped my tranny for another used tranny since mine had the 5th gear pop out on my original 91 ser, i had put a brand new stage 2 clutch with new fidanza flywheel , i new something didnt look rite when i had to make new holes on the clutch cable bracket in order to push the trow out bearing more than it normally went. it worked for a week, then all of the sudden when shifting from 1st to 2nd, it didnt go in to gear, i keep pushing the clutch all the way aND no dize, turns out my clutch had taken a crap and was not disangaging with my foot all the way down. just went a bought a new oem clutch and worked perfect again, thank god lol, hope any of this makes sense to u, and that it could help on your next swap
