Looking at a classic
I found a 94 SE-R for sale at a lot here locally. I went and took a look at it. Has 5th gear pop-out, spoiler is coming off as well as the headliner. Also, hesitated a lil at start up. Guy wants $1800 for it as is. What do guys think is it worth it? Body is straight and from I can see is it's rust free.

The headliner is just a part of being a sentra.

The 5th gear pop out is the killer in this deal. If you feel comfortable fixing it I'd low ball him and see what happens.

Is the paint ok? not peeling or flaking off anywhere?
A/C work?
any mods?
It just seems that I've seen a lot better deals for about the same price. Haven't looked recently.

Low ball him at $1000, throw the 5th gear in his face. Mention how hard it is to fix, yadda-yadda-yadda.

Hopefully, if the guy wants to get rid of it. Enjoy your new SE-R.

^^^ good advice.Theres a good possibility he is aware of the cost of fixing 5th popout...maybe thats why it is for sale .
In our community its nnot a big problem, but for someone not "in the loop" it can be expensive(dealer) or hard to find a used LSD tranny in the junkyard.

The paint is peeling a little in some places which I'm fine with. The spoiler and the headliner don't really bother me either. I'm mean it is a 16 year old car so I expected those things. I was just really hoping it didn't have the notorious 5th gear pop out. It looks stock aside from some NGK plug wires. I looked under the oil cap and it didn't looked slugged but you can only see so much. I guess I'll go take it for a test drive this afternoon if it's still there. He said 5 people have already called about it and he hasn't even posted pictures of it yet and yesterday I had to ask them about it cause it was hiding in the back. I've just always wanted a classic. So tempting.

Don't settle if it's not the car you want. I bought a 93 with a nice interior, straight exterior, and a JDM swapped engine for 1600. Just hang on, there are deals to be found...

I would hardly consider that a "low ball" offer... That sounds about what he should pay for the car in that condition.. right?

I agree with mikeb23ft. I almost bought a clunker for 400, instead, I got a nice interior/straight exterior/JDM swapped one for 1200.
