ga16de misfire in rain
Car misfires only in wet conditions, runs great at all other times. Anyone had this problem before?

I've always heard the distributor cap causing this, not particulary on the ga16.

Spray some water on it while it's not misfiring. With a spary bottle.

Factory or aftermarket wires? All of my Nissans hate aftermarket wires in the rain. Also aftermarket caps and rotors. Not for sure on the GS motors but on my old K24 it had a seal in between the cap and and the dist that kept water out, if that seal is missing or cracking it will let water in causing a misfire in the rain.

replace your cap, rotor, and wires /thread.

seriously, miss fire when damp is a classic example of bad ignition parts. get a spray bottle and spray down the wires and you will likely see it start arcing to the VC.

...................what? the O2 sensor would have no effect on miss fireing......well maybe, but defiantly not a random miss

ok............i dont feel like reading that, however is was the very first hit on google so you didnt look very hard before posting, and isnt the ls1 coil on plug? you cant compair the 2 in any way as well as being obd1 and obd2.

but a car with a distributer miss fireing in the rain is almost ALWAYS one of 3 things (cap, rotor, wires)

Ya the LS1's have individual coils, but they're not COP, they have about 6" wires running from the coil to the plug.

On these old cars water on the O2 won't cause a misfire, in that thread the water wasn't actually on O2, it was getting into the O2 sensor harness causing the issues. On these cars about the only thing that will cause a miss while raining is what's already been stated. Wires, cap, rotor.

thanks fellas more than enough info, the car has 205,000 on it and I believe the wires are still oem so that could very possibly be the culprit. I appreciate pointing me in the right direction.
