Just an update...
I found a guy on craigslist parting out a P10, so I bought the engine from him and dropped it in. It drives alright, but there are some issues I need to take care of still:
-nasty vibration when decelerating in gear...probably bad motor mount
-slight surging and hesitation below 3k rpm when giving it light throttle
-still needs new axles and windshield
-temp gauge doesn't seem to be working right...it barely lifts off the peg when at full operating temperature
-cruise control seems to be dead
I've been driving it daily for about 2 weeks now, and on my last tank I got 23.5 mpg. I think that after I re-ground the MAF and ditch the questionable NGK spark plug wires, it can do better. I should probably figure out if the coil needs to be swapped out too. Oh, and the fuel gauge is ridiculous! Starting with a full tank, it reads 3/4 full after just 13 miles driven LOL
It feels kinda slow, but it's been a long, long time since I've driven a bone stock SE-R, so I'm not sure if it's abnormally slow, or if I've just been ruined by the VE in my '93. Either way, I'm still having a lot of fun in it because it's so light and tossable compared to the P11 and Maxima!
For the stereo, I replaced all the worn-out 18-year-old speakers with some new Polks, and ditched the ancient Kenwood Excelon head unit for a Pioneer with USB capability for my iPod. I also threw a Bazooka bass tube I've had sitting around in my garage for years into the trunk.
Here she is after two washes, a clay bar rub down, paint cleaning with a random orbital polisher, and a quick (lazy) wax job using Meguiar's NXT.
