R134a is not flammable. But the PAG oil can ignite under some conditions. The gov regulates this and has strict safety standards when it comes to regrigerants and their characteristics.

At ambient temperatures yes only the PAG oil. But it does seem like R134a can be flammable under pressure and mixed with air.

I'm actually going to start another thread, AC Refrigerant Alternatives, and continue the discussion about different fluids and flammability there .

^That is a d*mn good price. Did you know the people at the shop? A/C is something I would not cheap out on. I would take it to a shop done with it. I did a full R12 to R134a conversion on my car. Every single thing was replaced and installed by me. I left the vacuum and refill to the shop as I wanted to get the system pressure tested for any leaks.

I do not know, but the mechanic who works on my car exclusively, other than myself, said it is leaking out of the compressor and I need to replace it. He used the dye and all. I assume from outside of the fitting that cannot be fixed.
