Thread: Pass Motormount Bracket Trouble UPDATED: Dillemma SOLVED!

Currently doing a timing cover/oil pump replacement with engine in-car. All is going surprisingly well, except this.

The bracket for the passenger motor mount is in the way! I got one of the bolts off (bottom), but I can't seem to get at the top two. Anybody have any tips?

Remember, it's still in the car, and I do have a tranny jack underneath and engine supported by straps up top, so I do have a fair amount of freedom in moving the block up/down.

My only thought so far is to lower the car but keep the tranny jack all the way up to get the engine to peek out the top, but if I can do it without messing with taking the car off stands, it'd be much appreciated.

I'll posts updates on what I decide or how any tips work out. I'd love to get this baby on the road, and considering I can get the bracket on any time after the replacement, this is the only hurdle I'm struggling with.

are you talking the mount that is on the motor or the bracket that is on the chassis? it might be vice versa but im assuming you talking about the one n the motor since the one on the body is easy to take off. did you try some pb blaster or wd40 with an impact wrench?

torque isn't the problem, it's getting to the bolts. I can't seem to get them accessible. And yes, it is the motor side of the mount. Chassis side is already removed

UPDATE: Got that bracket off, and am going to struggle with getting this old seal off the new timing cover. all should go well from here on out. Thanks silvis1320 for your help .

how did you get them off? u-joint or something?

the bracket I used some creative jacking and hoisting plus an electric impact wrench.

the seal I'm just gonna hammer a flathead on the metallic part of the seal until it bends, thus allowing me leverage to get it out. So far it's the best alternative I've found.
