Thread: Cylinder flooding after injector change

I changed the injectors in my nx2000 today.

Pulled the fuel pump fuse before yanking injectors, fuel poured into cylinders when pulled each injector.

Pulled spark plugs and turned motor to clear cylinders.

Put it all back together and turned it over, after a few rotations motor quit turning, pulled plugs again and re-cleared cylinders.

Did this 2 times before I gave up.

What is the problem?

yep def. an o-ring. i hope u didnt put them in dry.. you'll just roll the o-ring stretch it and tear it up.. use some kind of lube when u put them on.. i used lithium grease and slid on like a glove.. good luck..

i always recommend using a new set of orings when installing injectors. cheap insurence

Two mistakes, didnt prime the fuel rail to check for leaks and motor oil.

Always put a towel under injectors then prime the fuel rail. Esentially turn key to ACC but don't start it.

Motor oil is petroleum based, it eats rubber. Use vasoline or even chap stick. I've been able to reuse most inj orings lile this. Sometimes a new one is the only way.

Also be sure to buy the new o-rings from the dealer. I had purchased two sets of o-rings that looked similiar to the factory ones, but leaked soon after installation.

They were only $13 from the dealer for all 8 o-rings.

This is the second time I've heard of using Vasoline. Some old-school BMW shop guy said that's what he used. I always wondered about what lube to use. I'm just worried about if it is gasoline soluble or not, and if it's going to clog the fuel injector or not because inevitably some of it is going to go through the injector no matter what you do.

Standard fuel injector o-rings are made from Viton. One of their main characteristics is oil resistance. Not sure where you heard that from Vadim.

I buy mine from mcmaster carr because I can get them cheaper than from auto places.

Just make sure to buy Viton material since fuel likes to eat other materials .
