I find it hard to believe this is the way one of the engineers at Cosworth carries himself in public, when he must know he is speaking for the company. I thought Cosworth would have more class than this. I guess I was wrong.

Eric Hsu is one of the smartest guys I know, a friend, teamate and one of my few go to guys. If he offends you then simply don't read his personal blog, don't buy Cosworth or XS Engineering stuff. I probably offend you as well as I share most of his belifes and have the same sort of sence of humor. I actualy think he is more clever and witty than I am. Please don't read any of my tech writings. Call for a boycott on us. Filter us out on your settings.

If his blog sounds like ad copy and you can't glean any emperical information from it that does not offend your non commercial senceabilties then don't buy cosworth products. Get fine product from OBX and Megan Racing instead.

I would not want you to be offended. Neither of us has enough class for you.

This is all you needed to say. It's his blog, and it's taken out of context. When brought into the advertising arena the tone of the post seems childish. When taken in a blog context, it makes all the difference.

Edit: I see now that the first post mentions the source as being from his blog. I stand corrected.

good post, seems the technical capabilities of the cosworth gasket are well over the ones of other commonly used gaskets!!!... nice to see a respected company like cosworth take on developing something for our engines!...

"The Cosworth SR20 gasket was engineered from scratch to fit ALL SR’s including the VEs, DE front wheel drive, DE rear wheel drive, DET front wheel drive, and DET rear wheel drive."

That is totally false, got a 87mm one for my VE-T and it did not have the VE lubrication holes, at least I managed to sell it quickly. VET metal gasket FTW.

I posted this in another thread. So I will back up this mans claim.

The Cosworth Gasket does not work on the VE motor. It does not have the lubrication hole for the VE.

I'm curious at what actual level of power levels the stock gasket craps out. I can't say I've ever read of anybody doing that research.

If you believe the consensus, the completely stock SR20DE block is good for 500 WHP. The stock SR20DET block is good for 550-600 WHP. This assumes knock is completely avoided. Above these power levels many things tend to hit their limit at the same time including the head studs, head gasket, rods and rod bolts.

If you may have to deal with knock due to quality of fuel, poor engine management, high intake temps, etc. then personally I believe you should take care of those issues at their cause instead of installing a better head gasket as a band-aid.

If you want exact examples, for what it's worth DanMartin and I made 414 WHP on a daily driven, bone stock SR20DET.

Yeah I heard and saw the same. If you are pressed on not using the PE/Mazworx one you can still use the Cosworth but need to go external line on the VE head.
