Add to your list:
1) Prothane motor mount inserts or equivalent. Protect that tranny.
2) Redline Heavy Shockproof tranny fluid. It's pink and goopy, must be good.
3) Andreas Miko Tranny Saver Bracket.

4) Possible oil-cooler. Seems extra necessary on VE's (?). Threads on that subject abound.
5) A real gauge cluster. Keep an eye on important fluids and temperatures. Like this:

I'm with all the folks (Chris101, Hammerin' Hank, etc...) saying learn the car first, figure out the suspension and get your skills up, before adding in serious power.
