Low lumpy idle at start up and hitting a wall during acceleration (the feeling of it)
I have done every check. TPS, MAF, Cap and rotor, changed IAVC (the one behind the manifold), fuel filter, and I am still coming up short. Ever since I had to take off the manifold (or the shop did) and replace the coolant hoses,it has not been the same. I checked every hose to see if it is conected.
1)Fuel filter was filthy, changed
2)Ait filter was filthy (I have a CAI and they did not put he filter on proplerly, or did not notice it fell off, so I just secured it back on after 3 weeks off)
3)TPS is at .49
4)O2 sensor (4 wire) pigtail rewired
5)Idle at 15 degrees.
I do not know what else to check.
Sometimes when I accelerate, it is if I sometimes hit a wall of resistance, and it bogs or heistates.
I do not think I am going to put any more money into this tired motor. It leaks like hell and burns oil. A JDM is in order. In the mean time, what do you think I should look for?

I am not going to bother with VVL, I just want a good strong DE. I do not push the car anymore, I just cruise and look good now.

Valve cover gasket leak, or PCV/PCV hose?
A valve cover leak can cause that kind of problem.

Sounds like my BMW when the valve cover gasket was leaking heavily. Thing ran like crap. Barely idled and accelerated until this was fixed.

Same thing with this car, it had a busted PCV hose and the idle was super lopey.

I suspect there's some leaking from that manifold. ITs a pain to mess with and I don't blame you for wanting a new engine.

I think you should think about the VVL. Its super easy to do and you get more tq and better fuel economy. Its a lot of fun to cruise in even on the small cam.

Oh, I forgot to add, when the car has warmed up it will idle good. it is just that damn throttle feeling that is intermittent that is a killer.

Have you cleaned your MAF already?

I cleaned mine. Car runs damn good now. But does have a mysterious intermittent throttle poop-out, like it randomly makes half the power. Really weird. Probably intermittent connections in the MAF.. i dunno.

185psi on all 4 cylinders though, so wtf.

Ok. Here is the deal cause I just started the car. Cold idle it will run right up to 1500. When it starts o warm up she will drop rapidly, bounce and hunt and or shut off. If I hold it for a while it will stay. I changed the aaiv in the rear with a new one last year b/c of this problem and it solved it...till this week.

Vacuum leaks most likely, try pinching the PVC hose while the car is running to see if the idle changes. That is if the cold start air regulator thing is good.

I would do the pinch test on the air reg to make sure it is good as it is an easy test. Just pinch the hose that goes to before the throttle body. If your motor's compression is bad the blow by oil could have killed your new air reg

It might be dirty carbon-ed up valves not sealing if not the other above

Wouldn't it be some hsit if it is a batch of bad gas?
