Trans is out, got time on my hands, what to do?
So after NAPA got me a wrong clutch and then another that was just garbage, I have three days to wait to get a clutch. Turns out theres actually a store in my area that specializes in Japanese cars and has an Exedy in stock, but they're not open again until Tuesday.

So I have a car on jackstands for three days with nothing to do and my only means of transport is my brother or my shoes, leaving me with plenty of time to do stuff to the SE-R.

So, whats convenient to replace while the tranny is out? Anything that anyone else has done that they were happy they had done later?

you can pull it apart and look at the innards of your transmission then seal it back up. other then axle seals there isn't anything. a new TOB just to be safe but I am sure that comes with the clutch kit.

is there any reason you decided to hassle with napa and not ket a kit from gregv or like a OEM clutchmaster kit?

If you have time pull the motor and do a minor wire tuck.

I agree. But probably easier not to pull the motor.

Money, sadly. I don't have a job right now and really did not anticipate putting any money into the car this summer other that a few minor things. Also time. I moved back home two weeks ago and my step-dad is weird as **** about me using the garage. His "nice" car gets parked inside. Its a f*cking '01 Olds Silhouette van. I dunno he's just weird like that. They took a long weekend trip for memorial day and I thought I could get it done before they got back Monday but with the parts store hassle I wont have it done til Tuesday or Wednesday. He's apparently really mad. Whatever, he used to work on his cars and for some reason now he doesn't understand why I wont pay a shop $1200 to do the clutch for me.

Anyway that's my rant. I'm working on scrubbing up the bay, but the wire tuck seems silly to me. I like access to everything, I'm not a huge fan of super tucked/"clean" engine bays, they seem harder to work on to me. I've had Exedy clutches in 3 of my cars and they always felt good to me, I want an ACT stg3 like Danja had or my brother had in his B13, but I cant stomach the $600 price tag or the number of cables I'd go through. I really wanted this to last a while longer so I could do a performance clutch and a lightweight flywheel. But life is what happens while we're making plans, right?

Also, many public thanks go out to Danja for helping me with the fix.

You might be able to do ES steering rack bushings, but those will take more than 3 days to arrive I bet.

Axle seals, and there is an oil seal inbetween the tranny and the motor... i think it's called the rear main seal. They replaced it on my car when the PO had his clutch replaced.

Do those while you're at it. They will leak eventually. And now is a better than ever time to replace them. The axle seals will cost you about $15 total. Dunno about the engine seal. But if it goes bad, the clutch and flywheel get fouled with oil. Yeah............ that's not good.

if you are that hard up for cash i still have my OEM (or oem replacement) setup that i didn't use very long before i went turbo. i'd come by and drop it off if you want to get done today.

it'll help you save on cash and i don't see why it wouldn't work. i think i still have you number but i have to check. i also have an ACT extreme and 6 puck clutch. a little over the top for you though. shoot me a PM, call or text if you are interested and i'll try to get out there. my car isn't running either so i'd have to borrow the car.
