Thread: SR20 Non LSD Tranny Question

i have a question my buddies car developed the famous 5th gear popout. since he cant find any lsd trans in his area he found 2 Non LSD Trans one being off a 99 SE-L and another off 96 P10 non LSD both of these trans and dirt cheap cheaper than than the $370 fifth gear kit.

now my question is can the VLSD Diff off his B13 trans be interchangeable with those 2 trans using his b13 LSD Trans Case? since they are RS5F32 gearboxes?

No, the VLSD has got a different bolt pattern for the final drive crown wheel.

Cozzm0_AU: I have 5th gear pop-out on my VZ-R tranny.. can i change 5th gear with one from Australian model (SSS i think). Its 0.810.

swap the gearstacks from the 96 p10 trans into the b13 case dude. All you have to do is check to make sure the trans has the same final drive in which the 96+ p10 and p11's do have the same as the b13/b14 as well as the b14 se-l. Its that simple.

Yes, but you must find a gear stack from the N14 (B13) AUDM Q/Ti/SSS (we have the SR20 in various non-sss models for the N14/B13 range). All local gearboxes in N14/15 AU are non-LSD too (just for extra info). Anything with LSD will be imported or upgraded (i.e nismo etc).

The N15 (B14) had a taller 5th gear of 0.756 here and only the SSS in the N15/B14 has the SR20 motor here.

i guess we'll give it a try.. we'll see what happens. were gonna stick with that 96 p10 tranny it was the cheapest at 150 bucks..

Greg has new one for 200usd or so. Thats with gear stack i think. I would like shorter 0.810 over long 0.756.
