Nitto NT-01
There was not much info on these in the tire thread, and I searched here, there and googled...with some success, but still looking for opinion and experiences.

I Picked up some brand new Nitto NT-01,205-50-15.Probably gonna try these on my track car that I am building.I got a good deal on a set that are new. They came on some wheels that were too good to pass up.
Anyone want to post there experience.
From what I have read so far they need some heat in them to work good.
What about cold, for autocross? Also will they heat up at all in the FL heat from the pavement?
I was thinking of throwing them on my daily at the autocross, since the track car wont be ready for quite some time.I would like to get some use out of them before they get old sitting.
I would put them on at the track, not drive them on the street.

I'm leaning heavily towards these as my next tire as well. The Florida heat will help some, yes. They really are for the track though. I'm not sure if the NT-05 or other auto-x tire is better or worse. If you can keep them warm you should be good.

I wish I knew more. Once I get some I'll be able to compare them and see if they are too racing oriented for auto-x and spirited driving. However I really want to try them.

You say you already have them? Let me know how they work out. I think the trick will be getting them up to temp and keeping them warm. Also I think they would be okay on the street you'll just not get lots of life from them.

Yep,I have them already.I got them with a set of wheels for a good deal.I am gonna try them out next autocross, but it looks like they will be best for a track day, where they will go multiple laps.
Heck, maybe I will try them on the street and just burn them off,but I hate to waste a good track tire .
I cant make the convention this year...that would be the place to run them.
Oh well maybe next year I will have a trackable car ready.

- These tires are the sh*t. nissansr20nx had them on his old 10.1 DE and he gave everybody on the track all they wanted at the 2009 GA convention. That setup he had with these tires would move out! If I ever go hard on the track, this tired would be my first choice.

We've used them on one of our TT cars. The driver of it has been very happy with them. Not as fast as the Hoosier or Hankooks, but def get alot more use out of them.

Nitto NT-01 are a similar compound to parent company Toyo's RA-1. The NT-01/RA-1 are a harder R-compound, so they wear fairly well. Good for lapdays.

I've run second-hand RA-1's in an autocross setting (shaved one-race Spec Miata give-aways). Fresher examples are equivalent in performance to the current crop of extreme Summer tires like the RE-11, Kumho XS, and RS-3. Old, heat-cycled-out examples aren't so great.

On a road course, you will be running them in a consistently higher operating range than seen at autocrosses. Hotter temps probably put them in their happy place.

I would not drive NT-01's on the street. Not only will wear be an issue, but they will heat-cycle faster and suck sooner.

If street driving is in the mix, get one of the Summer tires previously mentioned.
