Check all your rubber fuel lines, front and rear. If you can, get it on a lift and literally poke around by the gas tank. I had my lines rotting (it had sat for 2 years in someone's yard before they got it running and sold it to me) and had this same issue. Couldn't find any drips under the car, but on the lift I discovered the hairline cracks letting gas and fumes seep out and evaporate. Also, a dirty MAF will make the car run rich, especially on cold mornings, and you might smell a bit of gas there too. Hope you find the problem.

Honesly bro I been driving these cars for years and not figured where that smell comes from. All my rubber lines were fine. All my exhaust components were new. My smell smelled like a mixure of exhaust and gas.

I agree. If the o-ring for the fuel pump lets the smell leak out. replace it with one from Greg V and you should be set.

i had/have the same problem. I smell fuel inside my car sometimes and sometimes i don't. and i smell it outside sometimes. so agreed with the above.

#1 check your fuel lines, even if you don't think they're leaking but they probably do have spider cracks considering it is almost 20 yrs old if it hasn't been replaced
#2 o-ring in the fuel tank cover holding the fuel pump, had big issues with trying to seat it properly so the fuel wouldn't leak.

In the vendor section of this forum greg v owns Gspec preformance, or you can go to gspec.com, but most of the time it is best to email him directly. Sales@gspec.com.
.
I'm not sure if he ships to austrlia but you can email him to find out
