I just use the screw in holes on the pulley. I forget what size bolt goes in there. I think it might be an m8. Its a thin bolt though. THe key is to only go hand tight or maybe four or five threads in. YOu can easily screw the bolt through the aluminum oil pump cover. I almost did that but I only made a round circle mark in the aluminum. I was lucky that day.

I rented a puller from autozone. ITs a smaller pulley puller i think it might be for steering wheels.

I used a harmonic balancer puller and some m6 screws. Next time I do it I will use a steering wheel puller. Gets the job done and is lower profile. There is no room over there. I don't suggest any claw pullers unless you want to chip your pulley.

I machined and welded my own puller... I had a problem before and didn't like any of the tools that were there so I made my own.

If people used a gear puller correctly then they would work fine. You have to turn tighten the puller then give a couple of hard hits with a hammer on the end (hence why it is flat on the end) of the puller. This will send shocks down to the pulley and loosen it up so it will slide off. You can't just crank down on the puller and expect it to work properly. Proper use of a tool gives good results.
