Thread: Can Someone Identify...why my engine makes this sound?

my girlfriends b14 has that same exhaust thing! does that **** on startup and on low rpm accellerations. i definitly think it is something along the lines of cat/cover/rotted out or something...got the same exact sound tho

Jack the car up and start shaking the exhaust. Your cat shield could be vibrating etc.

im almost 100 that is cat related becuase i cant really hear the rattling when i pop the hood and rev the engine, but my gf can hear it in the car, which makes me think the rattling is a little farther than the engine

timing chain guide.buy a new valve cover gasket for $15 and remove the upper timing chain cover thingi.

1). Starter... sounds like a tooth is missing...

2). Heat shield, or exhaust touching a heat shield.

Just my .02. Video makes it easier to diag, but still not sure what that noise was in the 1st video.
