Well, I thought just for the hell of it I'd try to shift into gears without using the clutch at all. I found it pretty easy and didn't require any real force to put into gear. Took about the same force as using clutch it seemed and no grinding or noises. I must be a rev-matching genius or my transmission has just too much wear. Good to know though when my clutch cable breaks

you can synchro shift easily in some transmissions. Seems the ones with the most mileage actually do better. Long haul trucks also synchro shift a lot of the time too.

Synchro shifting is not any more harmful on the synchros than shifting at high rpm as long as you can get it to go into gear smoothly. Synchros will wear faster any time you have to supply more effort to make a gear change. If it seems easy, then there isn't much wear associated in most circumstances. If it wants to grind, then don't do it lol.
