What some us are trying to say is that a real Seiko Flight Computer is the same price as a fake Breitling.

The S13 guys all say the fake Bride cushions wear out quickly, and the seats fade badly after a couple of years (no UV protectant in the dye). Then there is the safety factor... a seat belt cannot do its job if the seat itself breaks.

Please go with an OEM seat or a FIA approved seat. Not only for your safety, but your passenger's.

I know its not exactly the same as common groceries, or shoes, or medicine... and yes, everyone can appreciate a little help regarding once safety, but speak your opinion and move along.... No need to get all disrespectful and stuff...

Let him buy what he wants, and you guys buy what you want... for whatever your reasons are.

agreed here. but remember the knock off lucky charms does not taste as good as the real thing. also the reason we're saying these things is because it is directly related to safety. seats hold you in.

what happens if the seat shell material is crap. you get in a full frontal impact. then the holes where the seat rails mount snap. you AND the seat are flying forwards. "oh but the seatbelt can hold you back." ok sure. so if the seatelt does hold you back, what if then, someone rear ends you after. (this is actually pretty common... a chain reaction type accident) then you are unprotected... unless of course you have seatbelts holding your seat from going the opposite way as well.

yeah some of us may have come off a little harsh.. i apologize for that. but we are concerned primarily about the safety of another forum member...

Not my problem, why did people stop buying Hotshot headers and went SSAC? Even though SSAC copied the Hotshots? Hmm.... that can of worms was opened 3 years ago. Now JWT wont even make cams, but no one seems to mind with their $140 headers.

Dont flip the words, you dont know if the companies who make the replicas have been making seats for years, or if they are crash tested, you simply DONT KNOW. Its your opinion that they are not.

Or what if the seat is actually durable and holds you in like it is supposed to like it has done for other people who have purchased them and were involved in an accident?

I dont make anyone go out of business, capitalism does.

when its all said and done.. its your perogative Domiken. So go for what you know. Brides are an awesome seat and I am sure the replicas will look sick. You said for yourself that you are willing to take the risk, and if a person is willing to do that... there really isn't much that can be said.

One thing that I will say about authentic brides though is that if you did decide to get them it is a part that you can get almost all of your money back if you decide to sell them...

Now a question for you... how did you come accross pitstop? Thats a local shop in WA.

What harness' would you go for with the seat?

JM2C...

You get what you pay for. A lot of that money you pay for a real BRIDE seat, is the name. Sure the quality of worksmanship is better on a BRIDE seat, and it meets safety code for track usage, but that's a lot of where your money is going. R&D.

When you talk about ejections, and whatnot, the MOST important thing to look for, is a seat bracket made by a reputable company, and to retain your stock seat belt, or a harness made by a name brand company.

Seats are seats, and that's the bottom line. Some are more comfortable than others. Some are made of higher grade materials. But they're just seats.

Hell, I own a KIA OPTIMA! Made by Korean auto manufacturers. My seats in that car are crap, even though they're leather covered. They aren't comfortable, and half the time I wonder if they're going to fall apart more-so than they already have. But they don't restrain you. The seat belt that has to meat DOT regulations is what restrains you in the event of an accident.

So I guess what everyone is saying is that I shouldn't have bought a knock off car? Sure the quality isn't there, and it's falling apart, but it's a car. It get's the wife from point a to point b, and meets US DoT spec.

The only downside to buying no-name seats, is that if you compete and race on a track, and they don't meet regulation, you cannot run your car. That's IT.

When your car is going through it's safety inspection every year, are they looking at your seats? Hell no.

Bottom line: If you track this car, and those seats do not meet regulation, you're not racing. If you don't track the car, then you have no worries.
