Weird grinding noise
I am getting a weird grinding noise from my engine. When I accelerate it gets real loud, At idle its quiet. At idle adding a little bit of gas I hear it. I originally thought is was a wheel bearing (that's what it sounds like) but after inspecting the brake pads and checking for play in the wheels they turned out to be fine. Could the bearings in the power steering pump or alternator be gone?

you can take the belts off and if it goes away it's not internal

Do you have ac? If so, turn the ac off and if the noise goes away then replace the clutch or compressor.

On my old 200sx I had a weird sound that came from a bad alternator pivot bolt. It ended up wearing a grove and it would vibrate/resonate when the engine was revved. Didn't really sound like grinding though.

Does it make the noise while sitting still or only rolling? Does it stop when you push the clutch in? (if when rolling).

Nissan data scan showed no issues with voltage GT.

No Ac compressor in this car.

I will check that pivot bolt...it makes the grinding noise standing still, and reving the gas slowly noise picks up as I add more gas..sounds very identical as old army tanker.

This grinding noise ended up being a broken flex pipe.....along with the tensioner bolt for the power steering was slightly loose. Thanks for all the input.
