I'm getting on long trips I get 26/28 mpg
I have a stock motor.
I drive conservatively on these trips to attempt to get good mileage.. It's not a heavy right foot issue, because I used to get 22/24 on the highway until I dropped my insurance while unemployed and going through bankruptcy (back in 2008) and then started getting 26/28 on the highway..
I drive from Tulsa to KC and used to drive from Tulsa to Dallas quite a bit.. I know it's not a lead foot issue.. Something is wrong with my car, and finding the problem that is killing my mpg's might also restore throttle response, horse power and increase the life of my engine.

there are ton of things that could change mpg's on a older car. dirty injectors, dirty fuel filter, dirty fuel sock on pump, worn fuel pump, worn fpr, old spark plugs and wires, O2 sensor being worn, maf sensor being dirty, dirty intake manifold, dirty egr valve and tubing, low compression, poor spark due to other worn ignition parts. This should cover the motor.
