It will be there sometimes and not others. The temperature, how much fuel you have, how much you drive, those things all change the pressure inside the fuel tank. Some days there will be more pressure some less.

true on the fuel level that would determine how more or less you could hear the pump working technically the fuel acts as a coolant to the pump to keep the mototrs brushes from getting excessivly hot so if you run your pump on little gas alot chances are you are going to burn up the pump and being able to hear it can be a sign that your low low on gas

It's pretty common. My SE-R did it when it was new. It would occur after a hard drive. My NX does it. DO not sweat it. It is more annoying than anything.

Alright, thanks guys - I've never heard that before in the 10+ years of owning a nx, so you never know.

My car is posessed. Yesterday when I was in the car stripping it and wiring my amp, (keep in mind the car has been off for over 12 hours, and I wasn't doing anything that used electricity) - my car made the same buzzing sound, and it was still from the fuel pump. My car lately has also been bucking a bit when I let off the accelerator pedal, moreso than usual. Related or no?

Again this morning, I turned the car off, was on the phone in my driver's seat for 5 minutes, and THEN it started buzzing again. It's more of a concern now how random it does it even with the car off!

The valve doesn't use electricity at all so if can fluctuate built up pressure when ever. If it is cold at night and then warms up in the day off it can go.

It is not from the pump guys relax. What you are hearing is the pressure from that little canister next to the tank. If you crouch down and look under you wheel on the drivers side you will see a little black canister, that is what makes the noise.

Your pump is not on when the ignition is off, it will not make noise.

My car does it all the time, sometimes when I am working on it at night it will just make the noise. It is the excess pressure bleeding off. Try tapping it after a drive, most of the time it will make the noise.
