Thread: reverse lights staying on...wtf

I tried searching both forums but no luck, when my key is on my reverse lights are on if I'm in reverse or not, any ideas?

Its on my 1.6L 200sx se, 5speed trans, could it be the neutral position sensor, or is there a reverse sensor on the car? I have no idea and don't know where to start. Are the sensors the same on the 1.6L trans as the 2.0L trans?

For the reverse lights? The white ones not the red lights, I don't think any of the switches at the pedals controlled reverse lights

I think Andreas is referring to the grommet on the taillight housing, inside the trunk. Would make sense, too. Either that or you've got a short at the transmission's reverse sensor plug.

I believe the tail lights use tar to seal them on the 200sx,

do you know if the sensors are interchangeable between the 1.6 and the 2.0 transmissions?

no I am talking about the grommet on the brake pedal

I had that prob when I dropped my tranny an it landed on the sensor lol.. Unplugged it.. I must be very careful backin up tho so I need to fix that

A bad brake switch grommet will cause the reverse lights to stick on? Now I'm interested....
