Thread: CA Smog Help! Please!

Hi guys. Recently I purchased a 92 G20. Got a great deal on it and am stoked to own and sr20. Im trying to get it to pass smog and it passed at 25 mph but failed at 15. Here are the stats:

Also my timing failed the visual part. Adjusted that to 15, supposedly it was at 10. Also I have been getting a CEL 32 which is the EGR function. I cleaned it once, but I think I need to clean it again. Theres pulsing air coming out of the small EGR tube going to the valve before the EGR, but nothing coming out of the valve to the EGR. Should it be a strong steady stream of air?

i have the same CEL on... I think you might have to get a new one if it keeps coming on.... Those numbers aren't that bad. Have you tried that stuff that says "guaranteed to pass smog" or anything like that? dump that in there drive it around a little bit and then take it in and it should pass

Haven't tried that yet. I think now that I fixed my timing Im just going to run some high octane gas through it with the pass smog stuff and hope for the best! Has anyone done the alcohol trick?

where in cali are you? if all comes to worst, just do it the "special" way.
