Thread: Belt size for power steering removal with UR Crank and water pump pulley??

so there are 2 different standards for part numbers for a serpentine belt

40 30 250 used by goodyear dayco exct 40 don't know what it means 30 means 3 ribs 250 is 25 inches and 0 tenths of an inch

250k3 would be used by others so it would be a 25 and 0/10's inch long belt with 3 ribs

so how much string does it take to wrap around the pullies?

Just go to the store with the length you need(mm) and either your old belt or take your WP pulley to try it on.
Heck,you could have the guy at the parts store pull a stock belt off the shelf and compare the ribs....this is not rocket science
Please post up what belt you end up using for others...that way the next guy wont have the same problem

Im running a 25.2 around the 2 pullies. Same ones that you have.

rock auto has it for a whopping 4 bucks (gatorback) if that's what it measures

Couldnt get the 25.2 belt yesterday so I tried to run my stock wp pulley with the UR crank and run a 25 gatorback. I wanted to get it out to the track! It was way to loose to even work. I could spin the pulley by hand. Then I dropped down to a 24.5. I have no Idea how you guys are running this belt. Its so tight it feels like the thing is going to snap! If it takes that much work to get a belt on then it shouldnt be. Going to pick up my Gatorback 25.2 and see how that works out with both UR pulleys.

No A/C, Power steering, or ABS and a manual rack FTW!

the correct belt is 3k252. i bought it a few years ago at a local kragen. car sat for two years, but it was fine for the few months car was running. to get the belt on, you should do it like a bike chain. put as much as you can on the waterpump pulley, then slowly turn the crank while someone is making sure the belt doesn't fall off. after a full turn or so, the belt should fall into place.

Thats the three ribbed. I would use the 4 if your going to do it. The only time Id run a three is if I couldnt get the four ribbed. Id be scared the belt would snap doing it your way. Put the belt fully on the pulley, screw one screw in tight but not all the way tight, and then turn the crank slowly until the pulley is fully around the centering thing on the water pump. Bolt up the rest of the bolts and walla.

I think most people put it on the crank then put one bolt in the WP but then just stretch and turn the WP pulley by hand to get the rest of the bolts to line up.
