Update, just pulled baffle plate out of lower oil pan to start removing everything and go to remove oil pickup tube, I start by loosening the pita 10mm bolt on the bracket, and find the 2 -12mm bolts are loose, there is a gap probably the size of 5 sheets of paper
.
So is it safe to say the oil pump was sucking air at idle speed and then at higher rpms it sucked enough air up to pull some oil up with it to lubricate everything?
.
I put the oil pan back on and cranked it over and oil came out so I'm sure the problem is solved.
.
Also I don't want to start another new thread about this car, when we put the new axle seals in the trans and then put the axles in I think we put the drivers side seal in too far, we then pulled it out some and put the axle back in but there is still a gap between the seal and the axle and its leaking, is the axle not in all the way?

I had to pull the axle out to pull the motor, its the same axle that was in there before, yes it is the drivers side

my guess is you damaged the seal when you moved it outwards.

since the driver side is the LSD side I believe there are two resistance points to overcome. I suggest jacking only the drivers side up as much as possible and pulling the axle, you wont lose much Oil, probably already lost enough.

Put a new seal in and make sure the axle seal surface is inside the seal.

you are not the first to have this problem on the drivers side.
good luck.

I just looked under the car there is probably a 3/8" gap between the seal and axle, the axle pulls right out and won't go in any further, the splines are fine no damage, I just don't understand, I guess the c-clip is not engaging, I don't want to hammer on the threads and risk messing them up
.
just got the car running, but its still on jackstands, I will test drive it tomorrow morning when I get done work
