That's two that I've personally seen, and now three that I've heard of. Someone needs to make a better flywheel.

Fidenza flywheels are not "Crap" at all, it is just most do not have any knowledge of basic metallurgy.

Aluminum is soft. And the oem pressure plate bolts are hardened steel. What happens when you use those holes? The aluminum deforms. If overtightened the aluminum stripes like butter.

Any proper threaded hole in aluminum should be helicoiled. This provides the friction or wear surface with an equally hard metal as the bolt, therefore you can achieve proper tightening torque.

Have the stripped holes helicoiled (not a difficult process), and use lock tight to help lubricate during tightening and also resist vibration once set.

Edit: You might want to look into having the flywheel re-balanced anyways, i don't know how much that would cost but can't hurt!

when you follow the correct torq specs that they give you and they strip out then maybe they need to figure out wtf they are doing when they makes these flywheels....

Agreed.

Torque specs were followed per Fidanza's instructions, and flywheel to pressure plate mounting bolts STILL stripped out the threads in the flywheel. Pulled the helicoil inserts right out, as a matter of fact.

It's a no brainer that Aluminum is very soft compared to other metals.

well you cant really determine how usefull a product is just because YOURS has had no issues. Im sure theres a defect in at least 1 out of so many made ....

I never messed up the holes on my old Spec flywheel. Everything was dandy. I am going to try the helicoil's if not I guess I will have to bump up the size.

Use the heliciol's and locktite and you will be fine. Locktite is mandatory on any clutch fasteners.
