you should have no issues with that 1" aluminum you fab-ed up. You simply made a replacement for what usually is there anyway. It won't cause issues and won't be a safety issue either.

Only thing that might happen as others said, was the nuts loosening up and the cable falling from the bracket. If that happens, you simply won't have throttle response and the car will just go down to idling speed.

Not to mention, if those nuts loosen on your aluminum stock, they would have loosened on the factory washers as well. You'll be good to go with that. It doesn't look as nice as round washers, sure, but it does the exact same thing exactly as well as the factory washers would.
