I was going to say MAF as well, typically the first thing to check. Unfortunately, it's hard to diagnose something like this, it's hard to tell exactly what's causing the ECU to go into a limp mode.
are you throwing any codes? Try scanning the computer at Autozone, even if the light isn't on (burnt out bulb).
First things I would check: Air intake temp sensor, front O2 sensor, EGR equipment, possibly the AAC valve and the IACV. It could be a clogged cat, see if you can't get yourself a test pipe. If it's time for the maintenance, a new cap, rotor, and plugs can't hurt.
