The oil and coolant did not mix, its all separate.
.
.
The plan is IF the engine is rebuildable I'm going to swap it into my 1.6L, but IF its not rebuildable I'm going to go VE on my 1.6L with a p11 trans.

.
I already have a de to go in the car hopefully in this coming week

some of his exhaust manifold bolts were snapped, that usualy indicates something warped

When you replace your motor replace all coolant hoses from upper/lower radiator, water pump to thermostat (both of them) underneath the intake manifold, heater hoses & throttle body hoses. One time, be done with it. Get an OEM thermostat from Greg V or your Nissan parts guy, NX radiator in good condition or go aluminum like Koyo or Mishimoto. And yeah, get a decent water temp gauge. You lost coolant somewhere and more than likely a hose failed. Doesn't take much to overheat the SR and when it happens there is a very thin window of opportunity to dodge a bullet and save a motor. The stock idiot gauge in our cars is virtually worthless when temps get into the danger zone. Had your situation happen to me once, never again. Warped both the head and the block and the stock temp needle barely moved from it's normal setting. The large water pump hose blew suddenly and lost most of the coolant in no time and this was also on the highway.

I had already planned on replacing 99% of the hoses & vacuum lines, except for the top and bottom radiator hoses which were new when I bought the car.
.
.
I know all of the cooling system hoses were strong enough to hold up to the pressure the motor created when it went because none of the hoses burst, ONLY the top radiator hose blew off of the barb on the top of the radiator (I usually double clamp every hose I replace too)
.
.
Where is the best place to find a cheap koyo, mishimoto, or nx radiator?

Check the OEM classifieds on the Forums for a used NX radiator, they pop up occasionally. Google MVP Motorsports, they sell the Mishimoto radiators. Check on EBAY, there are some specials on there as well. Don't forget that gauge!

napa sells fail safe t-stats. when they fail......they fail open.

get one for a 300zx TT (Z32 twin turbo) as iirc its a lower temp t-stat and fits perfectly in the sr20 along with the high pressure rad cap.

Fail safe thermostats don't fail open. They just lock open during an overheat to allow maximum coolant flow. The 'Zone sells them too. You can unlock them if they ever lock open, but like any thermostat they CAN fail closed.

The factory thermostats on the SR is a 160*F. That is as low as I've ever seen on a factory car.

So its official there is liquid in cylinder #1 & #2, I finally got all of the spark plugs out.
.
I'm just taking a guess as to how the coolant got into the intake manifold, but I guess as the piston went down it sucked coolant into the cylinder (however it leaked, won't know till I take the whole engine apart), and when it went back up it pressurized the coolant and when the intake valve opened it squirted out into he manifold, does that sound right?

sounds logical. Only way coolant got in there is a blown headgasket.
