Sideview mirror glass replacement
Has anyone changed the glass in their JDM mirrors to make the visibility better? How do you swap the glasses without breaking them? Did a search and can only find the install. TYIA

It is pretty tough, you have to be very careful. There are little tabs that the mirror pops into and you have to use a pry tool and get right at those tabs and pop them out one at a time. Move the mirror in one direction and start from that side. Take your time but they will pop out.

Joel,

Look in the FSM. The mirror comes out the same way regardless of model year or JDM/USDM mirror. Have you found a place to cut the mirror glass for us yet? I'm working with a few places for a mold for that thing we talked about.

BTW:

Auto Glass Repair and Replacement

They're here in Edgewood. I plan on stopping by sometime this week to see what can be done for the mirror glass to mimick what the USDM mirror glass should be. I'm going to see if they can use a slight fisheye glass on the drivers side for a wider field view effect, and then the standard USDM glass on the pass side.

I got a better idea, the 98+ P11 mirrors I believe are shaped exactly like the JDM we have. Once I go outside and dig out I'm gonna attempt to match them up. If they are the same we can just take the ones from the yard and replace what we have in now and we will be back to LHD JDM style

Nice! LMK if they're the same shape/size.

The only problem we'll continue to have is adjustability, as I mentioned before to Joel. They were obviously designed around a driver being on the right, so the motors only adjust the mirrors in and out so far, based on this. We MAY still need to get a sort of fisheye mirror glass for the driver side, depending on where the driver's seated forward/back.

The motors will swap from any USDM mirror. I can get some pictures if you like.
