Thread: Door wont open.

So my B13''s driver side door is not opening from either inside or outside handles. I pulled the inside handle assembly and the lock rod is working just fine but the latch rod just slides back and forth freely and does not trigger the latch.

Has anyone ever had an experience with the latch rod coming loose from the latch itself or something similar?

The door panel obviously is an issue as you cannot remove it without the door opened so I need to figure out a way around this without cutting the hell out of it. Could a shop or towing company pop the latch so I can get the assembly either replaced or fixed? This is obviously my first time dealing with a situation like this so I figured I would ask away.

hahaha...just paint it orange and put a rebel flag on the roof. I'd say pop the lock or have it popped and go from there. Impossible to get it opened up without tearing the door panel up.

I wouldnt mind sacrificing a door panel if I could find a clean set of replacements but the black ones are getting hard to find.

Have you really dicked around with the key a lot? I take the key and push it down while turning it. Also B13s were designed for the slim jim.

very true, ive slimmed jimmed my share of b13's in my day. all my own cars cause im stupid and on occasion have locked the keys in my car lol.

if u take a slim jim and press it down towards the latch there is a switch thing u can press down and that should work... go from the outside of the window and its maybe a in or 2 from the side of the door. you just push it down.. lol should help..

happend to me a while back. just push the latch and the metal thing that pushes it down with a long screw driver. it will push it back into place.

roll the window. with one hand pull the out side handle, with your other pull the inside lever handle and the same time many times and see if it pops open.
