sr20ve in pa
two days ago i blew the engine in my 97 200sx. i searched the forum for answers and didnt really come up with anything useful.i want to go to a sr20ve with a calum ecu and i was just wondering if it would pass obd 2 test for emissions any info wuold be great.

no it won't
jdm sr's are obdI, they don't have "readiness monitors" which are required to be set for obdII state emissions
I've been trying for months for someone to answer this question (neither calum or jwt) would tell me if they can permanently keep on readiness monitors. my guess is that they can't..

but like brett said, your location would matter.
up north in the sticks, they don't do emission tests and you would pass

also if you drive less than 5000 miles in a year, it gets exempt from an emission test

yep. Here in wyoming county, there are no emissions testings as of yet, but in the neighboring county, there are.

lehigh county and i want to run a calum ecu not the jdm one. i need emisions test and its one of my daily drivers. before i spend the money i want to see if any one has tried it with the calum ecu.

Sure it will pass just put it in with the same sensors etc. as the DE. Changing maf, injectors and wiring in the VVL switches is fine. You would need to find a way to run EGR and all that emissions crap.

Word. I got the same this past year, I think the only reason was because my car was down for half the year.

Or you can keep a spare gauge cluster around.
