I would'nt totally agree or disagree with that ,, it's not a bad idea. I've always used full synthetic in every vehicle I've owned (the ones that did'nt leak or use)and not always the same brand. ex. my Chevy's got Penzoil, had a few Toyota's & they got Castrol, had a girlfriend that owned a POS Ford Mustang, it got Havoline,, and now my Eggs get Mobile 1..... but all are full synthetic.. I also either use a nissan filter or a full synthetic filter..

yes you should use what it says ,, reason is the tolerance of your particular motor, to thin can burn up too fast and cause a friction break down (burn a bearing) too thick can hurt your seals and rings... however in my service manual it says 5w30 is preferable for all ambient temperatures and thats in the SR20DE and GA16DE.

okay, because of the seemingly overwhelming support, I just bought 5 quarts of pennzoil synthetic. (mainly because it was on sale, haha)

Plus, got a oil filter with it. all for just 23.99. Ballin!

It was off the top of my head so Im not 100% sure it said 10w30 but I am pretty sure. I will stick with 5w30 though, plus being it gets pretty cold out here (Northern PA) so I wouldnt want something thicker. Even with 5w30 my car will crank slow some mornings.

Hadn't kept up with the M1 switch, wow. Guess I find something else next change; likely I'll personally follow BigB's lead. Tearoff, what do they use in the circle cars?

The only moment I've ever used Mobil 1 is to clean out a motor I had just bought. It was lying around in my garage for a year or so, after winning a 4L jug as a door prize at the Canadian Solo 1 nats, so I used it as the "cheap oil" to run along with engine cleaner.

For regular "street" use, I guess it can work, though, but I've seen comparisons first hand between Mobil 1 and Motul when a Motul rep came to my sponsor's shop for a demo (we now call him the "lube guy" :rofl. The difference under heat was a bit scary.

Just to know they used Mobil 1 to make their product look good was enough for me to not touch that oil with a 10-foot pole.

I use Pennzoil Platinum fully synthetic. According to bob the oil guy forum it did better than Mobil 1 in analysis and it is a little cheaper. You can get the 5 quart from Wal-Mart for about 20 bucks.

AMSIOL the best 100% man made oil you can buy on the market, still today!
Check it out.. It goes in everthing I own and I mean everthing...

I have never had an internal engine problem ever in my 27 years of driving and owning over 80 cars!
I have owned alot of car and toys in the past 27 years since I have been driving.

I would not use nothing but AMSOIL when It comes to a synthetic oil!
Most all other brands are very good but in testing AMSOIL beats them ALL and made me a lifetime customer!

Not sold in stores, small shops and small businesses sell it!

So if you want the very best you can get in synthetic oil, you will buy AMSOIL! Reduces heat-wear and oil breakdown better than any oil on the market still today.

WANT SOME! cost is around $7-$10.00 a quart depending on grade ect. and you will still save money, by it lasting two-three times as long.

I have a customer who buys this oil in the case lots of $2,000.00 per order for his fleet use. He has been buying Amsiol for 7 years now from me and saves money on ,wear and tear, added cost for oil changes and filters. Seems high at first but the end results, it is the best protection you can get!

Hope I opened some EYES!

I second his opinion, I use Amsoil in my Nissan Frontier SE and also in some of my other cars in the family. Great oil and awesome protection this brand is.
