I use Motul 8100. I would never use anything other than an ester-based oil, because they keep their properties, even at high temp. So, they are more suitable for my racing and lapping needs.

I still do my oil changes at every 5000km, even if it's rated to go up to 10,000. I personally don't use synthetic oil so I can do less oil changes. It's really because of their different properties.

Absolutely love the stuff.

I still get GC out west. I find it at Autozone. WA, OR, CA.

My VE burnt RP like hell. Swithced to GC and didnt burn a drop. The Blackstone report confirmed that GC was much better. I would not think an SR20 would use the same stuff as a muscle car. There's a lot of negative feedback for RP on BITOG.

No one has mentioned Lucas Oil here as well. It is the fastest growing oil company in the USA...
A truck driver made this happen and started the company~! Does he know more than the oil companies about protection and oil, or is he just a good marketing gooo-rooo?

Everywhere you look you see Lucas Oil, adds, race cars ect. They do have some great products.
I want to know who made the oil for that truck driver who is now very rich owning Lucas oil? Guess he made it in his garage?

But Its funny you mention LUCAS when ever id do an oil change here's what i do three parts castrol syntec one part LUCAS synthec oil and a can of engine restorer.Il vouch for lucas i put in my moms BF beemer with 320k on it i found the car to start better and the gas mileage improved. I drove the car for three months i was curious to do my own research.

3. Did you actually notice any difference?

Thanks alot!

Hey Brett,, I X's 4 on the synthetic. my Nx2000 has 177,987 on , MOBIL 1 in it only. and my NX1600 has 224,788 on it (CASTROL synthetic) ..

and I've NEVER had any problems or LEAKS at all.. the reason people develope leaks is

1. TO heavy of grade,ex: if your car calls for 5w30 and you put 10w40 you may cause blow by,(means your rings or valve ceats are gone)..
2. OVER FILL <<<<---- will cause a LEAK everytime on high milege motors..

KEEP IN MIND ONCE YOU GO FULL SYNTHETIC you can NEVER GO BACK.. NOW THATS HARMFUL,,

if your motor don't use or leak , yes I would start using it but stay wiht the weight your car calls for.....

Lucas seems to be a very good product, just amazing that a truck driver invented it and now make millions!
Where is the R&D to back this product is my only question? Where did he get his knowledge of OIL overnight that all the other multimillion dollar oil corperations could'nt find. I think its private labled oil for Lucas that took off with a hell of a marketing sceme.

This is why I asked my question. Its a 95 SE-R and it calls for 10w30. Im now running 5w30 because its freaken cold as hell around here. I want to go turbo which means I AM going synthetic, but does that mean I should still "go by the book" and use 10w30 or use the same grade I am now or just listen to what everyone else with my setup uses that have no problems?

I suggest that if you are going to go to full synthetic then you should use a synthetic blend a few oil changes before you go to full synthetic. I did this to help save my seals so I wouldn't have any leaks and worked out very well.
