I have used Mobil 1 since 30k on my car, and my engine is shiny (this is at 150k):

According to Blackstone Oil, I can now go up to 8500 miles on my oil between changes without it (the oil) starting to break down. And I think the synthetic stuff moves a lot better during initial start-up in the cold. My mom used Mobil 1 in her Integra from 100k until she traded it in (280k) and the mechanics at Acura said the engine looked like it had only 100k on it.

Nice. My Blackstone told me 5000+ if I use dino on the 200. Its making me almost crazy to wait it out but the car really still sounds good. 1 more tank.

correction to this post -AMSOIL was first in synthetics.. And I am not knocking Mobil oil {it is good}.

I have never had an internal engine problem ever in my 27 years of driving and owning over 80 cars!
I have owned alot of car and toys in the past 27 years since I have been driving.

I would not use nothing but AMSOIL when It comes to a synthetic oil!
Most all other brands are very good but in testing AMSOIL beats them ALL and made me a lifetime customer!

Not sold in stores, small shops and small businesses sell it!

So if you want the very best you can get in synthetic oil, you will buy AMSOIL! Reduces heat-wear and oil breakdown better than any oil on the market still today.

WANT SOME! cost is around $7-$10.00 a quart depending on grade ect. and you will still save money, by it lasting two-three times as long.

I have a customer who buys this oil in the case lots of $2,000.00 per order for his fleet use. He has been buying Amsiol for 7 years now from me and saves money on ,wear and tear, added cost for oil changes and filters. Seems high at first but the end results, it is the best protection you can get!

I cannot readily get AMSoil, so I get Royal Purple. I've had wonderful results with Royal Purple, as far as cleanliness/lubrication goes.

I personally don't use Mobil 1, not because it's not good, just that it's not good enough for me.

To each his own, I always say. I've seen old school muscle cars use cheap Pennzoil, and their motors run great and clean.

a local shop here is importing Eneos japanese 100% senthetic oilalot of people with big builds have said they have seen major differnces from mobil to eneos but like i said its pretty expendsive like 80 for the oil

Yes it looks good to the eye... Look at Amsoil mycroscopic testing on metal scaring.
Also I notice some small area of heat build up of oil harding and light metal scaring. Overall with the mile who could complain it does look very very good and clean to the eye. {NICE PIC}

Moble is a great product but the fine microscopic wear details and heat reduction still make me choose Amsoil!

RP is fakesauce holmes. But like you say...

200K is a lot of miles to be switching from conventional to synthetic oil. But, I've switched to synthetic oil on several cars with 80 to 120K miles with no leaks yet.

Like the man says - pick your flavor. Mobil 1 is good, but I just prefer not to give my money to Exxon-Mobil if I can help it. I like Castrol Syntec and my wife's Altima is on a diet of Pennzoil Platinum synthetic.

It may or may not be, though I don't personally know, so I couldn't say for sure. Do you have documentation to support your post, in that RP is fake? Many synthetics are "fakes", which is why they're synthetics...


There are two big time shops that run some high power street rods (old school american muscle), and their preference is Royal Purple. One such machine is a 800rwhp 68 Chevelle. BEAUTIFUL car. I pick my oil up from his shop at a discount of 5.99/qt, which is actually cheaper than most synthetic blends you can buy at Checker/Autozone.

Anyhow, like stated before, to each his own.
