That's what I was worried about originally , I was wondering where that stress would now transfer to.

there will always be stress no matter what you do. The trick is finding the strength/flex balance, which believe me, automotive engineers have put decades of thought in to.

He welded that trans in that location because it's the most common failure spot. Yes, there are now other spots at higher risk of breaking, but there's much much more of them and trying to cover them all will be counter-productive. This isn't a measure to make the case stronger, persay, it's just to decrease risk of breakage in a common area resulting in higher risk in uncommon areas.

I fail to see how filling those holes with even an epoxy resin is worthwhile. You'll be adding weight in a misdirected effort that can, in effect, be counter-productive to what you're intending.

This is simply a case of dressing a turd in a tuxedo. By welding at the spot in the picture, you're making the best of what you have. Want better? You should probably look at other casing options rather than welding and filling the sh!t out of one.

I have mine welded and it has not broken but dougo's tranny let loose at the track and cracked in the front of the tranny on the lsd cover. The gears were ok and still useable and the tranny was too if you replaced the lsd cover. He swapped to a b15 tranny and we put the old gears stack into another case for a friend who is still using them.
