Clutch/cable question
This is regarding my G20, not the red car.

I've been through a lot with clutches and cables, but I'm not yet too sure what to think, here. Typically, when a clutch cable or clutch lever is about to break, the engage point gets lower to the floor (cable stretching). What does it mean when the engage point gets higher and higher?

Ever since Fall, the engage point has been rising up on me. It got to a point where it was so high, the clutch wouldn't fully engage and would slip in every gear. The adjustment screw was so tight, it took me about 30-min to get it adjusted back down. I got it at a medium height, and decided I needed it lower (I like a low clutch petal feel), I adjusted it more, once again, very tight. Got it to exactly where I like it. About a week later, I can feel it creeping up on me.

Am I about to lose my clutch/TOB? The clutch, TOB, and cable are only about 3 years old.

There is a brand new clutch cable in your shed. If you need it you can have it.

Something is not right inside the transmission, probably the throw out bearing. My symptoms were a bit different but TOB was definitely shot.

Always buy OEM TOB and Cables.

The cable and TOB are OEM. The cable is GA16DE, which people seem to recommend, works just fine. The TOB was replaced when I did the clutch. I don't remember what clutch setup I have anymore, It was a quickie Disc and PP. OEM, I think, but it may be a B15.

Check for flex on your cable bracket?

All very solid. Bracket was solid, lever was solid. Trust me on that one, I was struggling to loosen that adjustment screw/wheel.

Hmm, I guess I'm going to have to open it up. I've adjusted the cable recently, got it perfect, few days later, I noticed it getting shorter and it got to a point where the clutch was slipping, again.

Just one quick update. I haven't done anything so far, but I'm going to have to. I really don't think it has anything to do with the cable and bracket, I still think it's the clutch and TOB.

One thing I keep forgetting to post up, When I release the clutch to move forward or back, there is a moaning/grinding sound for a second as the car begins to roll.

The problem is so bad, now, I can't accelerate to pass on the road, anymore, the clutch just slips in any gear. Pisses me off that this had to happen, now because 1) the red car is down, and 2) it's been so damn cold out, I don't feel like wrenching under my car in the driveway for 3+ hours on end to work on Either car.

HKS, what was wrong with the old bracket that required replacement? My current bracket looks absolutely fine and solid, and the cable is only a few years old.

Just replaced the clutch yesterday, GregV Key value clutch kit. Night and Day, feels like a new car.

Old disc was loose and practically turning to dust, flywheel and pressure plate were GALLLL-AZED. I roughed up the flywheel with some coarse emery cloth, cleaned up the bell housing and threw it all together.
