Dunno. I doubt it's the same case. I know for fact the gears and final drive are much longer.

I was following a Vq35 b13 build on Nico and he was using the qr case I think. Check it out Justin, and also if you need a clutch cable there is one at your house you can use.

I checked through his post. It looks like he's using a SpecV Gearbox mated to a VQ35 bellhousing.

My bellhousing is fine. When I bought the engine, it came with the trans, so I got both the VQ tranny and the VQ engine for one price.

A QR gearbox will probably be a cheaper option, and it'll bolt right on, the only downside is I like the longer gearing of the VQ gearbox. The shorter gearing of the QR will only make my traction problems worse.

Smaller brakes, smaller wheels, bigger tires, welded case and stronger axels haha.

Sounds like a Daft Punk Song.

I am happy to see my options, at least. Here's is a QR25 gearbox mated to a VQ35 Bellhousing:

Atleast the Qr trans is easier to find and has a reasonable price tag.

Well, GregV has 1 casing left for $300. I think I'm going to have to get it, but I want to look at the internals before I make a decision.

Anyway, I guess I'm going to have to open it up, just to see the carnage. Think there's any chance the only damage is to the case (and prolly the diff)?

I think the inside is fine if you drove it home without allot of noise, just need a new case. I had a trans leak all the gear oil out and it sounded like a jet plane driving it for 2 days like that. Put gear oil in it and the whinning sound was good. Shifted fine and everything. Joel

Man, it's been too cold to do much. I finally got out today and took off more than just the wheels and brakes. I used the cold to my advantage, a little, the axle nuts were stuck, so with a propane torch I was able to heat up the socket and impact it off relatively quick.

I have been thinking MAJOR about either obtaining an older Z car or an RX7 and transplanting the motor, but I'm not really sure if I want to take on all that work, at the moment. I guess the results are going to strictly depend on how the internals of the transmission look, as well as some compression testing on the engine.

I managed to get the axle off on the driver's side. It's nothing but grease down there, the CV boot is split in half, there is a small ring that used to be part of the tranny, and then another washer/ring that came out as well. I'll get the other side out, then it'll be time to drop the tranny. I'll be bracing my wallet. The the very, very least, I need 2 new axles, a new gearbox housing, and a new ball joint (unrelated). That's about $700 right there.

here are some pix.

pretty sure the damage is just on the case. I'd bet the rest of the trans is fine as long as you didn't get debris in there. Which you prob didn't.

Clean everything out and put on a new case and see how she holds up.
