clutch slipping at track but not anymore?
Last night I made one run at the track and it sucked. I spun pretty much all the way down the track and I think my clutch was slipping as well, not sure. Anyways, my car reeked of burnt clutch after the run. It is a new clutch as well. After I left the track everything felt fine. I got into it on a main road spinning 1st 2nd and chirping 3rd with no clutch slipping. My question is does my clutch need replaced or could it be a stretched cable or something. Any input would be nice.

did you do a burnout before the run at the track. For one the track will put the most stress on your clutch over anything else. Especially if you did a burnout before the run and the clutch slipped during it heating up some. Same thing that happened with my ACT clutch, On the street it was fine, but at the track after attempting a 2nd gear burnout by the time it was done i went to launch and wouldnt go anywhere, all clutch slipping. I let it cool down and drove it around the lot and went back out just cleaned off the slicks in 1st gear then launched and it did well other than slipping a bit in 4th up top.

^Yup. Same thing my clutch was doing after some good burnouts in the waterbox. Damn track just has to make **** extra stressful. lol

I did a little burnout but just until my tires were putting off a slight haze of smoke. I was on street tires as well. Here is my setup. Let me know if you think I need a heavier clutch setup.

exedy stage 1 pressure plate
OEM b15 disc from greg v

Without being familiar wit that PP I can't say for sure what I'd recommend. The clutch disc you have is certainly up to the task with a JWT PP. The material on the clutch is not going to be happy when it's real hot, and might recover as you've noticed when it cools down some.

I'm making 237 WTQ on the same clutch disc and haven't had any slipping issues. However I'm running the JWT PP like I said. I don't know what the Exedy stage 1 PP is like.

Did you even break the clutch in for the recommended millage? New clutches tend to slip if they are not broken in correctly or if the pressure plate was not cleaned prior to install.

The organic clutch material on OEM clutches need little to no break-in.

Yea it dosn't take much. Last time I went to the track on my t25, I was doing really conservative burnouts, just enough to get the loose crap off of the tires and 3rd slipped like everytime I think. My first 2 runs were within like 5 mins of each other so it was real bad. Its fine on the street tho.

doing a burnout with street tires isn't a very good idea lol, they dont work the same way slicks do an if you get them to hot they're worthless, at Most just let em chirp a bit from the water box to the staging line that should be pleanty..

I only hazed them a little bit to get all the crap off my tires. Where we were parked at there was lots of dirt. So, how can I avoid the whole clutch slipping at the track? Or can't I, this clutch seems kind of obsolete if its just going to slip at the track every run.
