Thread: Battery Connector help..

Well it looks like my stock positive battery terminal connector ring kicked the bucket. The top and bottom rings of the connector are cracked through. I went down to the local Auto Parts places and they didn't have a direct fit option... just universal battery connectors which don't incorportate the secondary connector that the stock one has. Does anyone know if Nissan offers a stock replacement?

I don't know if they do, but i went to Advance Auto and they have replacement battery terminals. I basically had to use my old bolts, and modify the hell out of it to accomodate that little red box. I'll try and take pics if i can.

Ok i lied, i used a new nut and bolt. But i had to remove and modify it like crazy to make it tight.

we did it in a pinch trying to get his car to turn over.......................after i broke the OEM one

what does that red box do? the b14's did not come with them

I don't know, looks like some sort of regulator or something.

It's nothing more than a distribution block, it offers a cleaner and more manageable way of tapping the positive battery terminal for several wires. It looks more presentable than 8 wires each equipped with ring connectors screwed into your positive terminal connector.

the red box is just to connect the fusable link and the accesory wires for the starter and some other componets inside of the car.. if you unplug one of them your car wont work. your car will not turn over your seat bealts(if automatic like mine) will not work... i forgot what the hell i did but i will check and see lol... but like the above person said its just a little block to clean things up your just ****ed if it breaks l

That it does. It also insultates the terminal and the mess of wires from shorting out on the underside of the hood should the battery get loose and take a vertical field trip.

I had that pointed out to me at AutoX tech with my '95 U13 backup car last Fall. The top of the "red box" had cracked off, so in theory IF the heavily bolted down battery got loose it could short against the hood Duct tape saved the day...just another reason I like getting the battery out of there altogether, inside a plastic box in my trunk, or for a shorter cable run (~6') the passenger side floor in front of or behind the seat (better if you like other people in your ride).

Especially if you have a WAI getting that big box out of the airflow is really nice...plus the battery stays out of the elements.
