In a B15 they stopped cold at 6700, which was total crap. Anyone know the limits of the valve train?

There's not really a lot of good info on this. Some of the overseas RRs had higher rev limits (Primera GTs I believe), possibly because they had different springs and a larger intake cam (bigger cam, more resistant to valve float). This thread has some interesting stuff:

Can a roller rocker engine rev to or past 7.5K? - SR20 Forum

But I think that there were other RRs overseas that didn't get the bigger cam, and I have no idea which motors got which valve springs.

I've had two imported RR motors (blew HG in one my old car, still have the other), and I've used S3R cams in both. I still only rev them to 7k, just to be safe. Both of them have had small turbos on them, so they don't make much power past 7k anyway.

I think I have one of those JDM primera gt ones because mine revs to 7.5 and seems to really like to be revved there, especially once you hit 4K and then it just pulls lie a rocket all the way to 7500.

I saw some remmaped UK Almera with RR and 7500rpm rev limiter.
Stock EUDM Almera GTi/Primera GT rev limiter is 7100rpm.

That was me... I revved the hell out of that engine for like 40.000 miles. Never had a problem (JWT S3R), hit the 7500 limiter many, many times. The car belongs to a friend now, works perfectly fine with OEM cams as a daily driver. On a side note, that car lived for 80K+ miles with UR Pulleys used and abused (WOT every time his tires rolled). Car still goes strong and although I havent's seen the bearings/crank, it hasn't spun one yet (4CW crank)

If the USDM RR head it's the same as JDMs RR, you shouldn't have a prob. I'd say go for the 7.5K and don't worry.
