Do we know if he tried swapping the bellhousing?

I talked To Greg Vogel 2 days ago about this swap. It would be a bolt-on for my P11. He can get SR style bellhousing for this tranny for around $300 or so + 8 week wait from Japan. The cool thing about this is there are many of these tranny's sitting in junkyards.

The next problem is the flywheel, its 225mm. I checked on maxima.org and maxima flywheels have 124 teeth or so. I don't know if this will be a problem for our starters or not. I imagine the the altima FW probably has just as many teeth.

Ok simple answer to the original question.

the QR18 bell housing is different. Period.

However the gearstack inside and rear case is same as the B15/P11 Non LSD. Exact same. The gearing is the same as the P11 as well.

So a QR18 tranny's guts can be transplanted into a SR20 tranny? Am I reading this right?

Sweet new bellhousing and GQ tranny times.

Never have to dish out 500 dollars on a p11/b15 tranny again.

Yah, but not just any SR20 transmission. Needs to be the B15 or P11 redesigned "strong" one.

I'm not 100% clear on which you intend to do...

You can swap the 70 series SR bellhousing onto the 70 series QG tranny, but I don't *think* you'll be able to use the 32 series SR bellhousing on a 70 series tranny. I could be wrong, but the bolt holes don't appear to line up, and the shifter linkage is in a totally different location:

32 Series:

you cannot use the b13/b14/p10/and 99 P11 bellhousing with the newer style gears. The cases are completely different. Completely different shifter linkage setup and all.

You CAN use the 1.8 QG gearstacks with the P11/B15 bell housing as long as you match up the final drive with the proper ring gear from the b13/b14/p11/93.5+p10's.

NOT that difficult people.
