Thread: Tach issues

My tach started acting weird today. I have a stock cluster and only the tach is the issue speedo and temp are fine. The tach won't read any rpms it just starts to slowly move up to max rpm on the tach. Any ideas?

sounds like the coil could be bad. does it start to climb with the key in just the "on" position, or does it only occur with the engine running?

I checked it out and it's only when the engine is running...

I have seen a U13 do this, sent the cluster to a specialist who replaced some sort of voltage stabilizer that was faulty.

Hmmm interesting... ^^^^ well today the coolant temperature started to bounce up and down with the rev's of the engine.

Bump anyone?

Honestly think you've just got a cluster issue that requires replacing it. Otherwise it could be worthwhile to check the wiring and make sure it's all secure and that no signal wires are grounding out or wiggling.
