Thread: trans leaking gear oil from inside

naw you have to open the case up. and do it soon. i had one that leaked like that till it ruined the bearing in the frt too. made some horrible noise.

My friend just decided to buy another trans so i'm going to take his old one and probably sell it on here.

he should bring it to the orginal shop, the first shop that worked on the trans and demand they remedy the problem.

if they refuse grab the guy by the shirt and stuff his face into the wall.

These situations are exactly why I never go to mechanics if I can do the work myself. As far as the shops creating this problem. Did they open up the box at all? If they didn't then I'm thinking its not likely they messed up that seal.

I can see a crack being created from rough handling, but the transmission does have high mileage. I mean with that type of mileage I wouldn't be surprised if an oil seal gave up.

The shop the car is currently at has not opened the trans at all. The first shop he had it at I had a bad feeling about the mechanic from the start. I warn my friend but he didn't listen. The trans started leaking after the first shop replaced the clutch.
